KARANKA BACKS RONALDO
The Real Madrid assistant manager Aitor Karanka has said that the club are extremely satisfied with the performance of the Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo in the match against Athletic Bilbao during the weekend, despite the fact that he did not score. Real Madrid enjoyed a 5-1 win over their opponents during the weekend, but strangely, Cristiano Ronaldo was not on the scoresheet. However, he was involved in every goal scored by the Spanish champions. After the match, the assistant manager said that he did not feel Cristiano Ronaldo was not good in the match just because he do not score.
Ronaldo has already got 19 goals for the club this season in all competitions, but was unable to add to the tally in this comfortable victory for the club. Karim Benzema, Mesut Ozil, Sergio Ramos, and Sami Khedira were the scorers for Real Madrid on the night. Even though Madrid won comfortably in the match, they still remain eight points behind leaders Barcelona in the table. Karanka has said that Ronaldo was extremely generous in the match despite the fact that he did not score. The assistant manager also paid tribute to the performances of the summer signings Michael Essien and Luka Modric.
“We have already spoken too much about Cristiano’s importance to the team. He may not have scored today but he was still generous as ever. Modric is very talented and is growing each day. Essien has played in almost every position for us, now we need to find his best one,” said the assistant manager. The sentiments of the assistant manager was also echoed by the striker Jose Callejon, who said that Cristiano Ronaldo was an extremely important figure in the match due to his quality. Jose Callejon also noted the numerous assists made by Ronaldo in the match.
